Dancing for Health, Fitness, and Wellbeing

Dancing goes back to the beginning of time as different cultures celebrate their heritage and rituals with dance and other forms of artistic and symbolistic movement. There are two distinct forms of dance- theatrical where dancers perform for others and social dance where dancing in a group is encouraged to anyone.

There are many benefits to dancing including heart health, weight loss, toning the body, and it is fun. Other benefits include stress reduction, improved coordination, and it makes most people happy which helps with mental health.

One form of dance is Zumba, which has been popular for many years and was created in the 1990s. Zumba is a combination of salsa, merengue, reggaeton, and cumbia using Latin music as its guide. Zumba is considered a total body workout that improves coordination, aerobic capacity, and a fair amount of calorie expenditure.

Join us at Gordon House at One Coney Drive, this Thursday at 5:30 PM for our community Zumba class to learn and/or participate in this great form of physical activity. Come dance for your Health, Fitness, and Wellbeing.
